Greetings Hornet 6Th Man Club Members!

The 2022-2023 basketball season is just around the corner. The new players and staff are excited, and we have high expectations for an exciting and successful season. There are many different aspects of running a D-1 collegiate basketball program—recruiting, offensive schemes, defensive strategies, lineups—and, for a program such as Sac State, developing strategies for maintaining funding levels is also high on the “to do” list.

I would like to personally invite you to become a charter member of our reconstituted donation model. The Hornet 6th Man club welcomes and requires your support. Our goal is 100 members for our inaugural year at the helm of the Hornets men’s basketball program. With the support of you and many other generous donors to the Hornet 6th Man Club, our program will benefit in many ways:

  • Fund training table: We were able to provide nutritional meals to our players with more frequency by supplementing our budget with funds raised by the Hornet 6th Man Club. It is very important for our student-athletes to eat healthy meals in a structured environment, not only for their physical well-being but also to support them in meeting the academic challenges they face daily.
  • Enhance travel arrangements: College basketball travel presents many challenges. Hotel rooms are our “home away from home” for many nights during the season. For those of you who have traveled extensively you know this isn’t as glamorous as it might sound.  With your support we will be able to upgrade meals, hotels, and flight choices to enable us to be at our best when we step onto the court in unfriendly arenas.
  • Provide academic enhancements: Even though it is not covered under the student-athlete’s scholarship, summer school is usually necessary given the players’ demanding schedules during the season. By supporting our student-athletes they can pick up the additional credits they need in the summer and keep on track toward graduation.

These are just a few of the areas where we will need financial support to reach our goals! It will require a shared commitment to achieve our goals and aspirations for the Hornet men’s basketball program. You will not be viewed as just a donor or supporter – you’re literally a part of our extended family.

Our staff and Hornet 6th man steering committee will work on ways to improve the club and your experience.  When you become a member, the benefits will be numerous including everything from interacting with the players on a social level, email newsletters and updates, behind-the-scenes functions with members only access, a membership discount card for various local businesses, invitations to special events including the Hornet 6th Man Club post-season dinner/banquet. Membership dues will be ($250/individual and $400/couple).

We want our 1st year to be an overwhelming successful! Help us grow the Club and our basketball program by spreading the word to your friends, family, co-workers, and fellow fans. All new members will receive the Hornet 6th Man Club polo as their apparel GIFT. The Staff guarantees to give you their all in developing, mentoring, coaching, and steering your Hornets to big sky prominence! We want you to be a part of the Hornet basketball family as we build for the future. All our opportunities are in front of us – let’s go get it done together!

Dear Men’s Basketball Hornet Supporter

Having your support as a “Hornet 6th Man” during the 2022/2023 basketball season will provide us the necessary resources to succeed academically, as well as athletically. Without your contribution, none of our success will be possible. It almost seems like “Thank You” isn’t enough, so I’ll go with…..Thank You, Thank You, Thank You! In advance for your investment into these young men.

We hope you will be able to support for your Hornet Men’s Basketball Program at the same level or, perhaps, even increase your contribution. You can do this by completing the contribution section below and then returning this letter to the offices.  I will be happy to visit with your personally regarding your individual needs and answer any questions you may have in the coming weeks.

Thank you again for being a part of our Hornet 6th Man “Family”.

Sincerely,

The Hornet 6th Man Club currently consists of three separate but interchangeable arms of fundraising.

ICE- This component consists of three levels of giving “I” investor “C” champion and “E” elite. The investor level begins with a $2500 donation the champion level is $5000 and the elite level is $10,000 or above.

Events- The second component consist of events…. for example, the “tip-off” banquet and “The Marvin Menzies Open” golf tournament. Currently these are our two Marquis events, however from time to time we will have other events (these will be our two staple events).

6th Man Club- The last arm of fundraising for sixth man and probably the one with the most potential is the Hornet 6th Man Club – consisting of an individual membership for $250 or a couple’s membership for $400. These three arms of support/development will be the anchor of the Hornet 6th Man Club funding.

The “membership” category has the most potential because of the demographics of Sacramento. A target market that can pay $250-$400 stress free annually definitely exist in the city. Simply put 1000 members who give to this arm would create recurring revenue of approximately $300,000.
